Women's Global Connection Challenge
At a time when globalization promotes economic
and cultural domination - and science echoes the value of mutuality in an
interconnected web of life in the Universe - the voices of women and the
disenfranchised remain largely unheard.
As cultural shapers, women can play a key
role in creating a more just global community that honors diversity, cooperation,
mutuality, and the inherent right of all beings to fullness of life.
Recognizing the power of spirituality as
a source of meaning and motivation for transformative change, Women's
Global Connection offers a supportive and reflective virtual gathering
place for women to share their diverse experiences and approaches in working
locally to create a peaceful and sustainable global community.
Fourfold Intention
of Interconnectedness
Sharing Stories
As women throughout the world, working
in a multitude of ways for social, economic, and political change in our
local communities, we seek to create a space to share our stories, our
ideas, and our strategies for creating a global society that honors diversity,
cooperation, mutuality and the right of all persons to develop and be
part of world community.
Learning and Leading
As co-learners from communities,
organizations, and academic institutions around the globe, we wish to
share the rich diversity of ideas and research about women's ways of learning,
about women's experience of change, and about the process of growing in
leadership.
Connecting and Healing
As humans called to work together
to build a more just and humane world free from poverty and violence,
we recognize the need for healing ourselves, our people, and our Earth
- and offer each other music, art, poetry, images, and song as signs of
hope and wholeness.
Celebrating Spirit
As
people rooted in the diverse faith traditions of the world, we recognize
our personal values as a source of significance and motivation for working
for change, and we seek to share the meaning of the feminine expression
of the Divine in each of our traditions.
